Join us for a fantastic evening with Adele Parks, talking all about her writing and her latest novel, First Wife’s Shadow. Adele will be interviewed by her husband, Jim. Providing a unique, rare and frankly fun insight into author life.
First Wife’s Shadow is Adele’s twenty fourth novel and 2025 is a big year for Adele as it marks 25 years of publishing! Her 25th book is due to be published in September 2025.
Over 5 million UK editions of her work have been sold and translated into 31 different languages and her novel The Image of You has been released as a major motion movie. In 2022 she was awarded an MBE for services to literature.
We’re very excited to celebrate with her fans from Holmfirth and beyond at what will be a brilliant evening of gettting to know Adele. We hope you can join us!

Smart, wealthy and grounded, Emma has worked hard for her success. When she meets Matthew, a kind, handsome widower, he seems like the icing on the cake.
Initially, Emma’s friends are delighted, but as the relationship quickly develops, they worry Emma could be being exploited. She’s a rich woman, after all.
While Emma isn’t worried about Matthew having so much less than her, she does have one tiny doubt about her new relationship. If Matthew’s wife hadn’t died, he wouldn’t be with her. And sometimes Emma wonders if she is second best. The more she thinks about Matthew’s first wife, the more obsessed she becomes with a woman she can never know.
As jealousy and suspicion blossom between Emma and Matthew, events take a darker, dangerous turn. Emma doesn’t know who she can trust. Her friends? Her husband? Or even herself…?

An Evening with Adele Parks will be held on Wednesday 26th February 2025 at 7pm (doors open at 6.30pm).
Each ticket includes a paperback copy of First Wife’s Shadow (RRP £9.99) to be collected at the event.
Adele will be joining us at Holy Trinity Church (Holmfirth Parish Church) in Holmfirth, HD9 1HA. Parking is available at Crown Bottom car park – only a 5 minute walk away from the church.
